I removed the drum from a CVA Hawken barrel because I plan to convert it to flint. The drum broke loose pretty easy and screwed right out. The entire outside of the drum threads are wet. The CLP I am using has penetrated into those threads inside the CVA breech. The protection is wonderful, but I wonder how much the CLP seeping back out of those areas into the dry powder column effects things. Is there enough there to cause a misfire after being loaded for a few hours? Is there enough there to cause a bad hangfire?
Using the CVA breech system, I would have to recommend not using anything that can penetrate into those areas and then leach back out into the powder. If I can get the plug out, I plan to go to another type of breechplug.
