Thank you Gentleman for showing your work and freely given ideas. I am impressed as always at the level of Craftsman we have in the good ol' USA!!!

Had a long talk with a couple of friends who shoot/reenact here in Indiana (yeah surprised me too :idunno: ) and the disussion on why there are not more surviving period accoutrements.
The conclusion of bone/antler/wood/bamboo powder measures are they were tools and if they broke/lost/etc that they were thrown away and most that survived were metal of some type. A bit more precious than ol' bone or antler. AND more likely to be handed down too.

Just my thoughts. :yakyak:

Well here are a few that I did a few weeks ago...nothing fancy... just drilled and brown leather dye...

this one was dyed in strong black tea for about 10 minutes, then rubbed back a bit.

don't think it belongs to any "period".
I was just foolin around, feelin' inadequate after looking at Wick's stuff !

I had Scobrien a member here make me several measures posted here. He has a Tutorial posted on The Horners Bench (google it) the Tutorial is well worth the time to look at it. I had him scrim basically what he wanted but my request was to do it in "Folk Art".

Your right on about Scorbrien's measures!....I think he makes some of the nicest measures out there and is an all around nice guy to teach you how!

So...got a bunch of antler tips, got a dremel, got a repirator.
Next question, where do people get their files from? Do you spend the big bucks for high name or go to Harbor Frieght?
Do you use wood files? Thanks for the insights Folks. This is going to be SOOOOO much fun!!! :applause:
