Any CO guys good with wood carving?

I'm SLOWLY progressing on my French Dragoon build. I'd really like to give the stock a little more character, but my wood working skills are barely above "toddler with Swiss army knife" level. I'd love to be able to get some tutelage from someone before I make a mess.
