I saw the advertisement for the Galesburg one in August but haven't seen much else. I heard they have some around Peoria and the St. Louis area.

Fort de Chartres has a rifle/musket frolic and trade fair coming up in April, a rendezvous in June and another in November.

There's a Colonial Faire at Jubilee State Park in, I think, September. Interesting and fun but it's not a shooting event.

Fort Creve Coeur has small "rendezvous" in May and September. Don't waste the gas. :shake:

The Galesburg Heritage Days is pretty good.

I went to the frolic at Ft. DeChartres for two or three years. It is a great event, it is juried and they are serious about that.

Ft. DeChartres seems more colonial and my clothes are more 1820s. Would I still be allowed? A guy in our club who goes to a lot of rendezvous said the galesburg one was good but he said the shooting was at a different location. I'm not really looking into camping just shooting and going to trade fairs.

I think everything at Ft de Chartres is 1750 - 1790's, but I could be mistaken. The one time I went to the June rendezvous there I was impressed by the size of the doin's. There were LOTS of traders there. Worth checking out even in flatlander dress.

You'd fit in at the Galesburg Heritage Days. The shoot is just down the road. A little bit of a walk or a real short drive.

I finally got my outfit completely together. Except now I have to modify my knife sheath so it's traditional-ish. I think there are some rendezvous around St. Louis I could go to. Is there anything else in the Peoria area?

hallo luie. the club i belong to has a rendezvous on apr.29-may 1. we have a woods walk shoot on sat. we are located in between minooka,il. and channahon,il. right on the dupage river. then theres the bloody lake rondy near woodford, WI. that runs from may 3-8. seems like theres always shooting going on there. just about all of the rondys ive ever been to you have to be camped to shoot in the events. now galesburg if i remember right (jethro help me out if im wrong please) you can register as a camper and pay a camp fee but not actualy camp and still compete in the shoots? then theres the pierre bulbona rondy near wyanet,il. over labor day weekend. that one has a ton of shooting events as well. sorry for going so long but im always happy to see more people at camps. hope to see you out there.

Well... the only ones I know I can make it to so far is in Cantril, IA(45 min. away) and Galesburg Heritage Days. All the other ones I'm either turkey hunting that weekend or the labor day one I am going to be goose hunting since that's the opening weekend.

You're right.
Last year they let me register as a camper just so I could get in on the shoot. They said the only rule was you had to be registered to shoot, not that you had to actually camp. I also had to wear period clothes. (I did a crummy 1830's last year, got better stuff this year  )

Last year I had planned to camp but couldn't due to my Mom's health at the time. I had to be home nights to take care of her. She's all better now. I'm going to try and really camp this time. It's a good event. Hope to see you there. :hatsoff:

Well, now that you 've got everything together, it's time to post some pics.

Yes Ft. DeChartres is 18th century. I'm afraid you wouldn't be able to get in in your 1820's attire. But it is well worth attending in street clothes even.
