Back in the early to mid 80's I belonged to an organization called The Mounted Free Trappers. The group was from one of the Rocky Mountain states. Over the years I lost track of them and the other day I found my membership medallion. #64. Just wondered if anyone from out that way has heard of them or if their even still around.

This was from back in my horse ownership days when we were riding into rendevous. Now I'm smart enough to stay away from those dangerous creatures and keep my feet on the ground.

Although SMFT started around the late 70's, its not them. Although they run primitive camps at there twice a month events and more seriously at the 2 rendezvous' per year they normally host, most of them only ride tin teepee's. I know, I run with that bunch now days (but without the tin). My MM days in the Rockies was in the 70's with the RM groups out of UT, ID and WY and included the Gore Society, but Segundo Jeff Hengesbaugh ran a mounted group that did the Sierra Crest Trail end to end a couple of times, as well as others up in my area back then. He lived in Phoenix (Scottsdale) - don't remember what his group went by.
