I have a new .32 cal rifle with a Rice 1:48 twist and a 42 inch barrel.

Anyone shoot this same barrel ?

If so, what load combo are you using? Hoping to start working up a load and zeroing in soon. . . wondering what others may have found.

Thanks !

Seems like thats the barrel a friend of mine has on his an if so he shoots 15 gns of FFFg but I think 10 would be a good starting point

I don't have a rice barrel but I have a Douglas barrel and it's like315round ball 18th patch and20gr fff and I got the mould from moose mould and they are great people to deal with hope this helps

I spoke to Jason at Rice barrel and he says that their grooves run deeper and often require a thicker patch.

I've shot only 20 rounds through it so far .. Started w 20 3F up to 30 mostly w a 15 patch. Interstingly 30 didnt group as well but all my shots w any load are hitting a bit left and 4 inches low at 20 yards, all in same 2 - 3 inch group area.

310 @ 25 grain w 20 patch seems best. It's a new build so I need to file the front sight and drift the rear a touch, then work on tightening the group.

I am not discouraged because I've had no wild ones I that surprised me. So far so good.

I haven't tried less than 20 grains ...I will do that. I was kind of using my old Crocket as a basis but I am learning that they are two different cats, even beyond percussion v flint difference.

Thanks !!

42" GM barrel with 1/48" twist. .318 ball, drill patch (about .018") 20 gr FFFg Goex. Sub 1/2" groups at 25 yds.

My Traditions Crockett really liked 20 grains of 3F and 30 grains of the same. I shoot a .311" ball and .022" to .024" patch. My current .32 is a flint with a swamped Rice RB barrel and I haven't settled on "THE" load for it yet. It does good with 15 grains of 3F, 20 grains and 40 grains. Needs more work.

Got a caplock 32 and 20 grains of FFFG makes a nice crack and is very accurate. It benefits greatly from swabbing after each shot. After three shots unswabbed, accuracy starts to decline.

My Rice isn't swamped but probably rifled very similarly. . perhaps I need more than a .20 patch. . worth trying.

I run 27 3f and a .319 ball wit a .05 patch in both my crocket and pedersolli frontier

38" douglas barrel, .311 rb, .10 patch. 30 gr. 3f for woodchucks out to 100 yards+ and 20 gr. 3f for squirrels.

A lot of decimal points in the wrong place but I get it. Should be .005, .010, .015, .020 and etc.

My .32 is a cap lock, so I can shoot Black MZ without having to swab between shots. This is very helpful, on a small caliber.

I just finished a 32 in a 44 inch Rice barrel 1-48 Chambers lock. I have been shooting 30 grains of 3F with a .20 oiled patch and a .310 ball. It will shoot one ragged hole at 25 yards and the last time out I shot at least 30 times and never cleaned it. I love it. In contrast I build a Colrain 50 cal flinter and I have to swab that thing every third shot. Yes I have tried many loads. Go figure.
