I'm thinking about using one on my early virginia rifle and would like to know what you guys think of them.

I Have a caywood wilson, the lock internally is the same. Sparks well I dont have any negative words to say about it. If you comare it to an L&R lock the internals are bigger and seemd to me beefier.

Great! thanks for the input, I think I'm going to go with the caywood. Will set triggers be a problem with this type of lock?

Should be fine as long as a fly is in place in the lock. The one I have does not have a fly.

I talked with caywood for a while today, he told me that both the trade and fowler locks have a fly, he was a nice guy and gave me some good advice on rifle building, I really like the idea of one of his 12ga fowler kits jug choked for bird hunting and a spare barrel for big game. Might be my next project.

I've had one of Danny's fine wilson trade guns for the past 8 or 10 years. He has always been really helpful and always very pleasant to deal with. A real class operation.
