Hello from Gemany!

Yesterday I got another Ardesa rifle, the .45 Hawken Woodsman with 1 in 66". I bought it because GPR's are very rare here and difficult to get. The rifle has nice brass funriture, a real well shaped stock and a fast moving perc. lock. The barrel looks good also and has a buckhorn sight. Next week I'll take it to the range and test it with maxis and PRB.

BTW I found a nice shooting club near me with several skilled ML shooters. There I can shoot 2x per month at 50 m with rifle and at 25 m with pistol and cap and ball revolver. The guys there are very ML friendly both to target shooters and ML hunters.

Regards

It is good to know there are still places for you to shoot in the old country.

Oh ML shooting ranges are many around here in southern bavaria/Germany. But the club I've choosen is real cool. They do also short arm shooting, LA rifle shooting and bow shooting.

Hello from the USA!

I am glad to see you can own guns there. Germany has some of the strictest laws anywhere. I can tell you, that with a 1:66 twist, it will not shoot conicles very well. What type of powder do you use? Do you have any pictures to post?

Hello from Germany!

ML are easy to buy and own here in Germany!

I think it will shoot conicals well. I have a .45 Deerhunter with 1 in 66" ROT and tested it already. With a stout load of 90 grs WANO PP I was able to get 3 shot groups of 1" at 50m using 240 grs Maxis (.452 Diameter). So I think the Woodsman Hawken which has a longer barrel will shoot these maxis well, too!

I think it is very cool you are into muzzleloaders and interested in shooting American style rifles. I am curious about the availability of recreations of styles common to Europe. (btw..you need a gpr..let me know, i'll ship you one

Hi, there are not so many european style ML in the replika line, only the pedersoli jaeger, but that is no real jaeger, but a fantasie product.
Thanks for your offer for sending a GPR, but I was able to get a nearly new unshooted T/C .54 Hawken perc. here in the forum from the classified ads.

You have a fine rifle there.
Ardesa (known here in the states as Traditions) is a well made, respected rifle. They are super accurate with patched round balls (prefered hunting load), but with the slow twist barrels not so much so with connicals.
