I saw one of these Ardesa Hawken rifles for sale on Gunbroker in 54.Traditions sells some of their rifes but none of these. I think they look great. Do any of you know a source of these here in the US?

after research I think the closest is the CVA mountain rifle made by the same company. Possible shop offers these.

Nose cap is different. CVA Mountain did not have an entry thimble. The rear sight is changed. A few different details...

The current Traditions "Hawken" offering by Ardesa compared to this model 1.Ardesa Hawken, 2. Traditions Hawken, CVA Mountain all from Ardesa

Dixie Gun Works offers an iron hardware conversion kit for Italian/Spain/TC Hawken rifles that would really make that Ardesa look great. The Dixie trigger guard in that kit is the traditional looking Hawken trigger guard (like a Lyman Great Plains trigger guard).

I've REALLY tried to get info on these Ardesa underhammers to no avail. The US distributor does not handle tham. I've tried the website "contact us" several times, to no avail. These are great looking rifles, and apparently they shoot well too. Sigh. I guess Ardesa is simply not interested in US sales.

I did notice on the Ardesa website that the barrels for the underhammer are made by Wilson Arms in the USA. I wonder if Wilson Arms could get one for you?

Try searching for some of the European gun dealers--the underhammer used to be listed on a couple of their sites. You'll need to use one of the currency converters but as I recall the price is a lot higher than for the other Ardessa rifles. A lot higher. It might be possible to order from one of these dealers.

Has anyone asked Traditions if they would be willing to special order Ardesa models that they don't normally carry? If they realized there was enough interest, they might consider offering this service. Maybe someone like Dixie or TOW can order them? If not, you can import them from European gun dealers but that's a hassle. They have a few models I'd sure like to get my hands on.

They (Ardesa) also make an underhammer pistol I have one in .40 cal.it shoots very well, a friend has the rifle. these guns were supposed to sell for, rifle around $1600.00 and the pistol around $700.00 that sounds a little high to me and that was a couple of years ago. If you are wondering how we got them, Austin and Halleck was thinking about importing them and got a rifle and a pistol in for us to try out. I shot for A&H for 5 or 6 years.

No kidding! :rotf: If I was going to spend that kind of money I would save a little and buy a Pedersoli Gibbs Rifle.
