I've got a Traditions Springfield Hawken in with a bore that's so rusty and pitted that it just will not clean up. I found a new CVA Hawken barrel for sale on-line at a reasonable price and it looks pretty darned similar. Anybody know for sure if they'll interchange? Can't tell for sure from the posted pics, but the hooked breech looks like it may be a little different. Could just be a funny angle, but without putting the barrels side-by-side who knows...

The older kentucky barrels and lock and lock parts were interchangable. I haven't worked on any CVA's or Traditions built since the seventies So I could not tell you about newer ones. There were several changes in hooked breechs on the CVA Hawkins so some might interchange but not all.

I know CVA's old style of is a hook where as a newer CVA gun I have is more like and octagon button. You can buy CVA tangs on ebay for $18 maybe you could make one of those fit your stock?

Thanks, guys! I found another one for sale and this seller was clever enough to include a good pic of the breech plug/hook, it appears to be exactly the same. Requested a better pic from the seller of barrel #1, but no reply so far...

Make sure to compare the measurement from the rear of the barrels to the center of the wedge tennon!

Good point! The existing barrel is 5-5/8" and one of 'em I'm considering is 8-3/16". Reckon one of my machinist buddies could mill me a new slot for the underlug without too much trouble, though...
