I don’t do safe queens or wall hangers. Antiques, collectibles, and inherited family guns all get shot at least a little bit. I have nothing against antiques or commemorative guns, some of them are incredibly beautiful, they just aren’t always for me.
As for the prose, Rudyard tossed in a few lines from the poem “Mandalay” by Rudyard Kipling. I simply threw a stanza back at him in acknowledgment. One of the things that makes Kipling so unique is that, in much of his poetry, he wrote with the same accent that people around him spoke. It’s more subtle In his short stories. I simply quoted it as written by the original author. Sorry to cause a fuss 😔
Cheers!

Well that makes sense! 🤪
Back in the early 80s there was a residential section near embassy row in NW DC, a couple tried to sell their house at the going rate, around $200 K. They had no takers and almost no one looked at the house for months so they decided to raise the price to $1M......... The house sold in one week.......... Today you can't find a house in that neighborhood for under $3M.

I never thought commemorative firearms were a good investment. Until I had the opportunity to buy a collection of new in the box , unfired, Colt signature series revolvers. The father had passed away and the grown kids were not interested in them. I made what I felt was a fair offer, that being the current market value of new equivalent model Uberti's with a small $ percentage over for the Colt name. They declined then contacted me about 3 months later. It seemed that every gun shop in a 4 county radius didn't agree with their asking price.

I figured I would need help to eventually shoot them all so I gave them to my son and grandkids. They are more than happy to help me out. So it can work out buying commemoratives

Thanks
O.R.

I think we’ve taken this thread completely off the rails. We’re well past “off topic” at this point lol!

Called up my local gunshop today to inquire about essentials for July 4th, (1F powder and cannon fuse) and asked if they had any C&B revolvers (as I always do). The guy told me he a Pietta "BUFFALO BILL COMMENERATIVE 1858 REMINGTON" for $995.00!!
I jokingly asked if that included RBs, powder, and #10 caps....He said no, "It's a collectable, not really a shooter." My response was..."OK THEN!"

Do people really expect someone to pay that much for a Rem. replica? I know that some things are still tight, but come on! I'd hesitate to pay that much for a Ruger Old Army.....(which I fully intend to get again someday).
Somewhere there is the ASKING price and finally the actual purchase price. Personally I would give a plugged Mexican peso for a Remington anyway. Don't like the look, don't like the feel, don't like 'em anyway.
But people have gone stark staring crazy to "get a gun" when there is a great scarcity of components for both Gunpowder firearms and the unmentionable fad plastic ones.
Lets get this thing either back on the rails or shut it down and don't start me on a rant about that!

I had 1 commemorative gun once...it was some 1851 Navy that I got in a lot of revolvers, along with a bunch of unmentionables that my father and I bought off a person that had to sell her guns so her jail bird daughter could move in with her. I took all the BP guns, and a few others. BUT, I shot it until it burned with the others.

that thar is whut a aith grade educutayion will get you
To fall off track which seems to be the way the thread went.
But not owning one commemorative I cannot add any thing to this mess
good night
Stay safe
stay away from people
some are crazy

every man to his own poison
Mine are open tops
