It could have to do with a new law here in California. It's illegal to "market" guns to minors, with the definition of "marketing" being very broad. A lot of organizations had to scrub their membership lists because of it.

Yeah I've seen it.

When I was a boy of maybe 12 years I'd already been bitten by the gun bug. At that time almost every hardware establishment, not to mention sporting goods stores, had a rack of guns for sale. It would be several years before production muzzleloaders regularly hit the shelves. As a "city boy" I, along with a few of my companions, spent a considerable amount of time pouring over their offerings and we were welcomed too. At that time no one ever suggested to have our interest acknowledged we had to be 18 or whatever.

"Curiosity killed the cat." Pehaps if we went back to a time where kids could satisfy their curiosity over a gun counter we'd have fewer negative events with guns. There sure seemed to be less when I was growing up.

Here lately, every time I get on gunbroker it'll pop up this screen thanking me for my interest & telling the site is for people 18 & over & asking if I'm over 18. Sometimes does it 2 or 3 times while I'm looking around. No real big deal I guess but it sure is annoying. Anybody else get this nonsense?

Im 67 but sometimes ask when ordering alcoholic drinks if they want to see my ID just to see their reaction then the wife tells the waiter its for a senior discount.
I do enjoy sometimes having a young lady or guy open the door for me when entering a business. They were taught well in respecting us older folks, so I thank them.

Well, that 50 thing is done and gone for me. But, I still have to show my license at the local grocery store. They lunch in the driver's I'd to the cash register. Must be store policy.

As for GB, I get the over 18 thing too. In the end, it's not stopping a 15 year old from browsing, all they have to do is click yes. I wasn't able to bid on GB without providing an acceptable photo ID with a DOB.

I still use it, but it has become damn expensive. Hard to find a good deal anymore, but it does happen. Also the filters are purposely non-selective to get you to look at as much as possible.

I agree. Everything has become expensive these days. But when you cut supplies, increase wages for doing absolutely nothing.....BIDENFLATION TAKES OVER. I was watching a particular product on Ebay(A gen 6 iPad), They were starting at $40-$60, Today they start at $130-$700!! However...I'll take the free market system to communism any day.

Concur....but what has made GB much more expensive is the surcharge for shipping guns, the cost of shipping itself, taxes and the compliance surcharge GB charges.

On a $350 gun, that easily adds $100.......plus the additional charge of the FFL processing fee if modern unspeakable.

Kind of like buying gas...on a $3 gallon of gas you are talking 60 cents to $1 per gallon plus up with state/federal and oft times local taxes

I've bought a number of older scopes for my Weaver collection over the years, but now nobody ships to UK. Thankishly, I have friends stateside who CAN buy these old scopes and save them for me till we go over on vacation and collect them.

Yes sir, agree again. The shippers have all increased their rates, however, GB added all of those stupid fees just to make more money, plus your buyer fees. It is ridiculous!! I totally agree with you and I don't even try to look for anything there anymore. When you screw your customers, you will see them go downhill as they are continuing to go. Folks are finding it's cheaper to go straight to the manufacturer or even auctions for their needs. For instance: auto parts, electronics, etc. I find the manufacturer way cheaper than ebay or amazon.

Dude I get it at the local gas station. They all know everyone in town, I'm pushing REAL close to 50 and my beard is mostly gray (as is what left of my hair). And they still want an id for booze, chew, and cigars!?!?

Any store that does that has been cited for selling prohibited products to underage people and in states that I am familiar with are required to do so for a specified period of time .
I do not know , but believe it is federal statuate.





What I have done is find a store that does not do that.
The ABC has spy`s for enforcement purposes.

Your answer to Gun Broker is to use Guns for Sale at GunsInternational.com. You deal with the seller directly and no seller fees, or buyers fees, the only fee a seller pays is $12 for a 3 month add, and $4 for parts. Bidding sucks anyway and you can make offers to the seller.
I remember sitting at a bar with my Dad drinking a draft beer at 14 when the drinking age was 18 and the voting age 21. Now it's backwards IMO.

When I was 5 years old my dad (who walked with crutches at that time) would send me down to the gas station on the corner to buy him a couple of packs of camels. As I recall, they were 25 cents a pack at the time. The guys working at the station would always give me crap but sold them to me anyway. Later in life, I always looked older than I really was (my mother would pull gray hairs out of my head when I was in high school). As a result, when I went away to college, I was 18 years old buying whiskey for 20 year olds because I never got carded. There was a bar in that college town that never carded anyone. One night it was full of 18 year old college students drinking beer when 4 policemen came in. They ordered everyone outside and told us to line up so we could be carded. Surprisingly, when the 4 policemen finally came outside to card the people lined up, there was no one in line who wasn't old enough but there were a lot of cars driving off out of the parking lot. Ah, for the good old days when people didn't take life so seriously!
