I recently arranged to pick up this pistol. It is marked, Armsport,Inc. Miami, Fl. Model #5237 EX A 5100 Made in Spain, Cal. 45.

It was put together from a kit and is missing both front and rear sights. It has a set trigger assembly, as seen in the photo.

Can anyone provide any information on this pistol?
Suggested powder loads, date and origin of manufacture.

I do know that Armsport went out of business in 2000 but would still like to have some history on this model. Just from the looks and the set trigger assembly it appears to be a "trapper" model replica?

thanks,

I have one just like this. I bought it in 1981 from Outdoor Sports Headquarters. I used it to shoot competition. It came with Target sights. I can't do photo now, but can send one later.

I don't have any specific load information for this pistol, but since it is a .45 I wouldn't put more than 25 grains of 3F in it. I'd start out with a .440 ball and adjust the patch thickness as needed.

There is some rust on the outside, how does the inside of the barrel look?

Many Klatch

I would appreciate seeing what the target sights look like.

I am shooting 20 gr. 3F powder, a .440 ball and .010 patches. The bore is clean, no pits and there was just some surface rust.

Here is what it looks like now with some sights. I know the front sight is not correct but I am still in the process of sighting it in and will file down some more metal the next time I shoot it.

The set trigger works fine too. Still sighting it in.

What is the model name series name of this Armsport? Was it sold as a target pistol

Here is the result of sighting in the pistol at 20 yards. I still need to tweak the front sight to move the point of impact to the right.

Triple 7 (FFFG), 20 gr. .440 ball.

The two high shots in the upper left were shot without using the set trigger. The white center circle is four inches in diameter.

Looks like it is doing well. I shoot 25 grains in my .50 cal, so that 20 grains should be a good load. 777 is noted to be a little hotter per volume than Black powder, so if you switch to the real stuff you may need to reduce the charge slightly to get the same results on target. Continue to have fun!
