I was at a swap meet the other day for re-enactors and collectors, and a fellow I know had for sale a like-new little .31 cal. Colt revolver mfg, 1862. It's fun to actually hold and examine such; it appeared never to have been fired, original varnish, etc. The workmanship, fitting, quality are all top notch. Just commenting on what a pleasure it is to be able to handle such an example as usually I only get to touch reproductions.

I was in the Navy on board the USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN CVN-72, I was in charge of the ships museum. Many priceless items from the ABRAHAM Lincoln presidential collection and civil war.
One unique item was an original 1851 navy .36.
Nobody knew how to disassemble the gun, but me. As you say, it was a pleasure to hold a piece of American history in my hand and be the caretaker for a short 4 years.
