I can't seem to find any brass rod to pin the end of my ramrod on with any smaller tha 1/8" diameter. Looking at it, that seems too big even for the 7/16" rod I'm making. Where do y'all get the 1/16" rod? I've looked at Lowe's and Home Depot without any luck. Any other suggestions?

Thanks.

Me, I use brass finishing nails, I wrap the ramrod head with masking tape, drill a hole tad smaller than the nail diameter, push the nail through, clip off the nail head and point, dress the ends down with a fine file. Then, I go to a vise or miniature anvil and give a light tap {emphasis on light, you don't want to mangle the tip or split the wood} or two on each end to peen them down, then remove the tape.

Thanks for all of the help guys. I finally found some all brass nails. The ones that I had found before were always brass plated, but I wanted all brass. I now have the end securely in place, and the rod stained and finished, now I just have to cut it to length and add the handle. I'm making a new range rod since my last one started to split. Decided to replace it before it ends up protruding into my palm.
