I need parts for a Austin & Halleck mountain rifle(flint).I need a tumbler and sear. I've tried TOW, Traditions and Dixies...with no luck.Does anybody know anyplace that might have some parts for these guns or am I --it out of luck? Thanks

I seem to remember that not long ago the same question was asked and I recall something about a company that had bought out AH parts and was selling them. Do a "Search" and see what you come up with. Sorry I can't help much beyond that.

Traditions is selling that same rifle, they just started advertising within the last couple of months, they should be able to furnish parts.

I talked with Traditions and they said that they didn't start selling them yet..and when they do, it will be quite sometime before they stock spare parts for it.

Longball...you had mentioned in an earlier post that I may need to have the tumbler welded and renotched(no flint clearance at half cock). This seems to be what is needed. Do you know where I could have this done? Thanks

I talked with Traditions at the SHOT Show. They bought out Austin & Halleck's parts and are selling the same gun (with a horrible finish!) as their Mountain Rifle. I don't know when they will have parts available, but at least we'll have a source when they do. I own a couple A&H guns myself.

Thanks Plink...that good to know! I talked to a lady at Traditions on the phone the other day and she sounded like she never heard of A&H before.

That wasn't me that made that suggestion but is is a good idea. I would think you could put a drop of solder in the half cock notch then file it to get some clearance as long as it is still safe, and won't go off when you pull the trigger.
Have you tried a shorter flint? How about cutting a notch in the leather so the flint will go in farther? By the way I'll look and see if I have a spare, I used to shoot for A&H and I have 3 Mt. Rifles and I did have one spare tumbler but no sear.

Yeah... the half cock notch in the tumbler seems to be cut a tad too deep. I've tried altering the leather and even the flint....but this just messes up the angle and the frizzen won't open the whole way.My only option(if I can't find a new tumbler) is too fill in and re-notch the tumbler or heat and bend the hammer back a little (last resort) Thanks for the info!
