As many of you know, Austin & Halleck has closed. I'm making this post for those who might not know yet. They are selling their remaining rifles at half price.
I ordered 1 each of their flintlock and percussion Mountain Rifles, both in 1:66 twist. I received them a week later. Both of the guns I received are complete and don't have any issues that I've noticed yet. Locks are straight and the stocks are good. Triggers are smooth and light on both. The percussion rifle I received had a lot of figure in the wood. The flinter had nice wood, but not as much figure.
I haven't shot the flinter yet, as I'm waiting on flints from TOW. They should be here tomorrow. As soon as I get the flintlock out, I'll give what I can in the way of a report. This is the first flintlock I've owned, so I'm not very knowledgable. I've shot friends flinters, but they had already been set up properly.
I've had the percussion out twice so far, and it's turning in really good groups, even though I haven't done a lot of load development for it yet. It looks like it has quite a bit of accuracy potential.
There won't be any warrantee support, but you can buy spare parts for half price also. I bought a spare lock for each, a spare trigger (same trigger fits both models), and some extra frizzens. I figure at these prices, it's worth the risk of problems down the road.
