bachelor chow: what i call any dish thats made from random stuff found in the kitchen by someone who has no idea how to cook.

todays bachelor chow consisted of:
- 3/4 pounds skillet cooked deer sausage chunks (think small funny shaped meat balls)
- mystery powder (tasted kinda like garlic or onion but im not sure)
- walmart brand alfredo sauce (heated up in a pot with the cooked deer sausage mixed in)
- one package of tri-colored rotini pasta
- a fist full of parmesan cheese (yep filled my hand with parmesan cheese and tossed it in)

i took all of the above ingredients and mixed em in the big pot that i boiled the pasta in and dinner is ready!

believe it or not... its great! im having a hard time typing while wolfing the stuff down.

edit: as an afterthought it tastes kinda like hamburger helper... sorta

that 'mystery powder' would be something I'd likely shy away from :hmm:

wheres yer sense of adventure?

just like when i first visited my Will (redjacket) in arkansas. some guys at the shoot offered me a orange juice jug and said "drink this". upon taking a swig they said "well boy if ya had worms, ya dont know". turned out to be some fine southern shine! the things you could miss out on if you arent willing to take the leap.

You cook about like I do. The only difference I have noticed so far is that I use very little, and usually none, peanut butter since my dog won't eat it. Yes, I do give the dog a little of everything I cook so he doesn't get sick on me when we go camping and on trips and he has to eat whatever it is I am eating. Come to think of it, I dont think I have eaten anything that a dog is not supposed to be eating in quite some time (for example, chocolate). Feel better than I have in quite some time too, but dont know if that's due to the diet, or the company I keep nowadays.

Why doesn't your dog carry its' own food? Mine does.

Hopefully no onions, garlic, grapes or raisins are included, as they are toxic to dogs.

He is currently 140lbs and still not full grown yet, and I want to find out how big he will be before buying/making him a pack of his own. Yes, I realize that this makes me lazy, cheap, or both. I know common wisdom says no onion or garlic (they are in the same family), but when I asked my vet, I was told that they are ok in small amounts. I have confirmed this with other vets, but the emphasis being SMALL amounts. A couple also said that some garlic will help keep the fleas and ticks off the dog too.

Know any good places to get a pack for a dog the size of mine? I would hate to take him to my local tack shop and then get handed a bill to pay...

I made the packs my dog carries using the instructions in the Ben Hunt book - Complete How-To Book of Indiancraft. I need to make new ones, as the current set has been used by 2 dogs and are much worse for wear.
