I can fully understand where nick 1 is coming from. Although I have never experienced such with caps, its not a good feeling to have in the back of ones mind to know there are some out there that are duds. Just what one does not need on a once in a lifetime buck or elk where we only get one chance.

With that said, I have some CCI and Remington caps that are at least 19 years old plus. Some are dull in appearance but so far all have ignited just fine.
 
While we are discussing caps, can anyone tell me the difference between #10 and #11 caps? Besides being one number higher haha

Call or email CCI. I had to do that last year on some musket caps and they were extremely helpful. I actually emailed them instead of calling but response was in minutes. I am embarrassed to say that the fault was mine and I called them back before they sent new ones. I had reinstalled a barrel on my Renner underhammer and hadn't remembered to fully tighten the barrel set screw. the hammer was hitting the set screw and the difference was only 2/1000 but enough to not set the caps off.

The difference is the size. Number 10 caps are a bit smaller than number 11 caps and are intended for use with revolvers (where a cap falling off can jam the action). There seems to be some disagreement between nipple makers and cap makers though, so different brands may have slightly different diameters.
 
I have some new CCI caps and found that a few of them don't have any primer powder in them, apparently it had fallen out. So far, I have found 2 out of the tin that were empty, I did have them in my inline capper so that may be the problem, they may have been jostled around a bit. I noticed this when I was capping my gun in a tree stand and getting ready to hunt. Every CCI cap I have used that was intact went off without a hitch.

For those who have problems with the industry's suppliers, have you contacted them directly with the lot numbers? It seems that they would like know about issues with their products so they can correct it. They have to do quality control to maintain their reputation or lose our business.
FWIW, the conditions of the faulty percussion caps sounds like exposure to moisture in storage or transport .

You'd think CCI would want to fix the problem. But they're the only game in town. Why fix the problem when people keep buying them.

10"s are slightly smaller and shorter for use on revolvers if you want to use 10's on your rifle buy a extra nipple made for 10's or modify one of your ones for #11's

Consider yourself part of the one percent.

People are acting as if all the CCI horror stories in the Search Function never happened.

I don't care how many people never had a problem with CCI caps.

The four tins a I recently bought were absolute junk.

And it's not a nipple problem. Or a fitment problem. It's a CCI Crappy Caps Inc. problem.

Switched all of my #11 nipples to 1/4-28 musket nipples and Schuetzen musket caps. Boom EVERY time.

True. I have #11 Winchester Magnums, Remingtons, CCIs, and RWS 1075's. In shooting hundreds of rounds in different pistols and two Hawkens I have only had one actual dud that would not fire. It may have been a Winchester, not sure. But on all my guns I very often have caps that require a double hit, always going off on the 2nd try. I have TOTW and Slix Springs nipples and try to get a good seat using a little stick but some are so tight I guess that I don't always get a good seat. I don't hunt so those misfires don't bother me much at the range.
 
Check your nipples. They might have mushroomed a bit.. or maybe they are a little over-sized. Common problem.
