Mom's old hand bag
Most of this I put together from stuff around the house.

I've used old leather handbags from Goodwill for years. $5 beats 60 or 75 any day and I can't even build my own for that.

Looks like a surplus wool army blanket. I keep one in every vehicle for emergencies.

I made the bag from a Lowes painters tarp and a US Army wool blanket.

This year's squirrel rifle gear. Original horn. Small bag with flints. Brass funnel for refilling horn or loading rifle if it's dim light or windy. Short starter. Cap tin with balls n patches. Antler tip vent pick. Patch knife. Turnscrew. Antler tip powder measure. Hunting license. Ted Cash tin with tow, and accoutrements. Primer. Note pulled balls above license. I throw them in my bag till I remelt.

I like to keep it simple. Other than this shooting bag, I have an antler powder measure, vent pick & ball starter on my horn strap.

I started out carrying everything under the sun, but only use what you see in the pic, so I learned to "let go". Even my range box has bare essentials now. I even stripped the flint wallet down to almost nothing.

Ok, here you go. All three bags are set up similar and a lot of what is pictured was made by me. I’m just a cobbler, but it shore is fun!

Each bag contains just the basics for a good shooting session.

My wife made this to go with my new Kibler Colonial in September. She patterned this one from a double bag that we saw at the Hawken Classic in August. She waxed an old pair of hunting pants, lined it with old work pants, used the pants hip pocket for the inner pocket on the bag, used

an old belt for the strap. Old boot laces to secure the flap. Not much goes to waste when she is sewing.

My smoothbore rig is a Lemuel Lyman style bag I made last year on my belt, a birdshot pouch in my pocket, and either my regular powderhorn or my flat horn, depending on whether it’s a multi day trip or an afternoon hunt.
