That’s a nice bag! I bought one from him a year ago but sold it and regretted it, thanks to your post I had to buy me another oneI just got this one last week from
rockypointleather.com , but I haven’t had a chance to get it loaded yet.
I would suggest a powder horn kit from somebody like Powder Horns and More or October Country. I tried making two from scratch before I tried a kit. First one was a failure. Second one became a shot horn. The third was a buffalo horn kit and is now my favorite horn. This thread was great for inspiration. I need to make a bag. Are there any threads like this on powder horns too? I would love to see that.
I like how you did a whip stitch on the edges rather than a saddle stitch, gives it a homespun sort of look to it, looks nice!My current 2 bags, I'll have to get you pics of contents if you want. First bag is set up for my flintlock, it's made from oil tanned leather hand sewn with linen thread, antique buckle, it has 2 larger brain tan button close inside pockets, a knife on the back, and has 2x 54 cal balls pounded flat in the tip of the flap to help keep it closed and if I get into a pinch I can melt them down and get a couple 45 cal balls from it.
Second bag is strictly a shooting bag for my target rifle, it hangs way to low to go running in the mountains with but makes it easier to access while at the shooting range. Hand woven wool and brain tanned strap, dyed buffalo leather with red wool trade cloth. Lined with red pillow ticking and a brain tanned pocket
