This is my rifle rig. I attend regularly scheduled shoots carrying this, and it has remained constant for more than twenty years.

I take a shooting box to the range. It has patching, powder, balls, flints, priming horn, powder horn, cleaning supplies, screwdriver, short starter etc. For rendezvous or hunting I carry my hunting bag and horn setup. It contains much the same in smaller quantities. I always carry extra flints and small pieces of leather just in case. If weather is iffy, i add a cow's knee.

I have a separate bag dedicated to each of my long guns and each bag is setup similarly. Only what is needed to run the rifle goes in my shooting bag. Anything else I deem necessary to carry for the day goes in my possibles bag (far right). All shooting, be it range, rendezvous, woods walk, hunting, etc is done from my shooting bag.

If I carry my bag and horn into the woods I carry short starter, extra balls, pan primer, precut patches, a seating jag for the ramrod. If a lot of shooting is expected mostly same stuff but just more. I can't forget the Snickers bar. For the range I carry my stuff in an old Sears tackle box. for larger things like a small scope & tri-pod, earmuffs and small towel.
