Anyone know where one might get a ball mold cherry that cuts a .610 cavity and what something like that might cost? :idunno:

If you think about it...You can get a mold from Lee for 16$. That is what I paid for mine. Maybe
more by now..

Thanks everyone for your replies. I guess i should explain. I have some old bag molds I picked up cheap. I had no way to measure at the time but they looked about right. They are a little small. I just thought I might make them useable if I could find a cherry for a good price. I'm aware that Tanner, Lyman, and Lee sell ball molds commercially. I have molds from them all. I checked for cutters online and there's lots of places that sell them but the closest I could find was 5/8" or .620". I just thought it would be something to piddle around with to see what I could do. It's not something I need to do, I just wanted to give it a go. I did find a place online that would make a custom cherry. While I'm sure their products are very high quality the prices they listed for their stock products were so high I didn't bother getting a quote. I'm too cheap (poor). :)

Unless you do it yourself I doubt you will have much luck finding someone who will do it at a price you want to pay. If you have, or know someone who has, a small metal lathe a cherry can be made without too much trouble. I have made several molds with D-style reamers and if you take your time they will cut a nice cavity. Also, keep in mind that getting the reamer is only part of the equation, you still need to figure out a way to set the mold up so that the cherry will cut the cavity evenly on both sides.
