Of late I've got the urge to get a ball mold for a .40 cal. I really do not have any desire to cast my own balls, I'd just sorta like to have one that went with the gun. Period correct for early 1810+ Tn style.
Is there a company making old style ball moulds? I saw plenty of old ones at Friendship. $40 range but most looked like they would be better for making small Easter eggs than a round ball. My gun doesn't look 200 years old so neither should my mould.
Thanks for your help or any advice.

I have a Rapine bag mold in .395 that I ordered from the Log Cabin Shop. It's just about period perfect. There is a thread on here somewhere about how to contact Rapine.

If you buy the mold.......you'll start casting balls.

Ridge,

Thanks! You jogged my memory. I have an old Log Cabin Shop calalog and they have them in there. The Rapine moulds look to be pretty close to a couple of moulds pictured in "Guns and Gun Making Tools of the Appalachia" except for the sprue cutting part.

Packdog.......word has it that the guy who owns Rapine is going to stop selling to retailers, that he will only be taking direct orders. I don't know if this has happened yet. If Log Cabin is out of stock......there is a thread on here that has direct contact info. As I understand though, he is hard to get a hold of.

Glad I could help.

Found it. I'll post the info again in case someone else is looking.
