My .40 Douglas barrel shoots best with a .400 diameter ball and .015 pillow ticking. This is for when I am on the target range. In the field I switch to a thinner patch for easier loading.
I had a .405 mold and tested it in the same barrel but didn’t see any improvement and it was harder to load, so no longer use it.
