Ballistic simulation

Hi,

I'm looking to do some internal ballistic simulations with .50' cal muzzleloader and some informations are missing me. I would like if you can help me please. Here are the measurements that miss me:

Overall inside diameter of the barrel
Thickness of the rifling
Width of the rifling

Welcome!

Every barrel manufacturer is different. Give a make and someone may be able to help you. Depends on how many grooves the rifle has and the depth of the rifling.

The only way to properly measure it is to cast the barrel with lead or bismuth (like Cerrosafe) and measure the slug with a micrometer.

Ballistic computations are only theoretical, anyway. Why go to all that trouble with a muzzleloader. They're primative, simple weapons of limited range.

I'm just curious as to why You wish to do thease tests? If Your doing it just as a personal project ,than do as Stumpkiller suggests.If Your just interested in the figures derived from tests,thease are available.A man named Ed Yard spent many hours testing both internal and external ballistics for most .cals. and bbl. lengths and a varity of projectiles and patching and lubes.Maj.George C. Nontes Black Powder loading manual has much of Yards specs.Published in it.I think the test bbls. were furnished by Thompson Center Arms.I believe the Lyman Black Powder Manual also has an extensive listing.But if You just wish to learn the proceedures,hands on is the way to go. :imo: :front:
