Did the ones in the bag fit properly before?

I am not sure about that...

I am pritty sure I didn't grab the wrong ball size because all I shoot is .310" and .490" round balls.

I am going to put five or so balls (that fit right) in the ball bag in question and carry it around with me for a day or so and see if the ball size changes...I will report back in a day or so with my findings...

I'm really bad at grabbing the wrong size and not noticing till I try to start one. Nothing like trying to load a .530 in a .50 and realizing that you left your .490s at home, or vice versa.

This has happened to me a few times. Now I'm getting pretty good at picking them out from a distance. I love shooting both my 50 and 54, so I'll just have to keep my stuff straight.

Sorry for the cheap shot earlier. Just couldn't help it. :v

Nope, never experienced that before. I carry a fair amount of RB around loose in a smaller pocket inside my possibles bag. I rarely shoot them all in one sitting.

I think you may be jumping to conclusions about what is happening... Data, man, we need data!

Could be lots of things giving this perception, or you could be absolutely right, we just don't have enough information to prove it.

What does the inside of the bag look like?
Is it coated with lead residue?
The lead balls, are the smooth when placed in the bag?
Check them once they are pulled out, do they have small dents on them over their entire surface?

I suspect they are rubbing against each other in the pouch (sort of like a how rock tumbler works and the bag is the medinum) and the missing lead is coating the inside of the ball bag. My leather ball bag is shiney inside from all the lead that has marked it over the years.

I noticed that the Hornady RBs were going down my .58 Colrain barrel easier than normal. When I got home I checked 20 of the balls with a Mic.
The box was marked .570 the balls ran out .565 to 568 no .570s. I opened another box of .570 Horn. RB they ran out .568 to .569 this is about normal.
The point here is Mic. the balls as they come from the box, if this is a concern. :hmm:
