Hey guys. Though I would share this with you. I have put together about 8 or so kits. I remember my first and how I damaged the wood around the pins trying to get then out.
So here is my fix.
I take my pin stock before I put them in. I file one end flat. I then place in my small lathe.
I take a new 1/6" drill bit and a small piece of 1/6" ID brass tube . I slip the tube over the drill bit and pin and put a divet in the end of the pin. This allows then rounded end punch not to slip off the pin. You can do 3 to 4 pins per fresh bit. Work well for me thought I would share.
Ty

Measure the pin diameter w/ a mic.. Use the exact same diam. drill bit as the pin . I use a belt sander to point the pin and small ball peen to drive the pin in the freshly drilled pin hole. After you've done a few , all works well. Only time I experienced wood damage is when I used a mismatched drill to pin size.
