I just ordered a gun from TVM but was debating about a Dehaas??? barrel that they said they use for their flat/square end barrel preferers.

Never heard of any opinions on Dehaas. Any preferences/recommendations on this type of barrel?

Mark deHaas has been making barrels for a long time - probably over 40 years.

His barrels have always got a good review by some of the premier builders.

Certainly as good as or better than most offerings on the market today.

Thanks so much everybody!!!

I just ordered my gun from TVM. It is a Southern Rifle, .50 caliber, browned about 1 hour ago and though I will not get it until July or August 2014 I am soooo excited! And, hearing that Dehaas is a great barrel is all that much more great!

My first "custom" gun made for me. Yeah, so I did not build it myself and there are probably many more out there just like it but at least it is not just a factory poured out type of gun.

Note: I am in a woodcarvers club also to learn do good work with wood so maybe someday I can build my own gun.

Time is going to go so slow waiting for this gun. I will be counting the seconds.

Chunk gun match...here I come!

Yeah I can remember the wait! It will go by pretty fast. You will enjoy YOUR rifle!

I have at least 3 of Marks barrels. Love each of them. Have won a bunch of medals.

So what that you didn't build your new rifle yourself? Do you think all those riflemen that shot poor boys originally built their own? I'm happy for you that you are getting a fine rifle and will have years of shooting pleasure from it!!!!!!! Cant wait for your report on it when you get it. Liberty2

There are some really superior barrels out there that are cherished by bench rest shooters. (and those with unlimited pocketbooks) But, IMHO, I doubt there is a 'bad' barrel on the market today. Even the lowly Numrich gets high marks. My family has won stacks of awards using rifles with Numrich barrels. I would like to hear from some who dislike certain barrel makes. The builders who have experience with many makes would make good source info. What barrel will you not use? (please, lets not get into the DOM thing for smoothies :shake: )
