Looking at a used rifle, the bore has what looks to be a line inside the bore about 2" (half circle)and another about 8" (full circle)? Ran a fiberoptic light thru the drum hole to light up the bore. Is it usable and what caused it? Keeper or throw it back? Thanks PeashooterJoe..

hi ho joe,

don't know what the rings are from,

first, use a cleaning rod to see if the rings can be wiped out.

2nd, use a tite fitting patch or slug the bbl to see if it gets loose at the rings.

3rd, check the out side of the bbl to see if you can feel or see a bulge at the ring locations.

so... if it wipes out, ok.

if it's 2 or 3, it's a pass.

good luck and ..ttfn..grampa..

Post your location, ask for help, maybe someone with experience will go with you and help you make up you mind.

The main cause of ringed barrels is someone short started a ball and then fired the gun. I'd let this one go.

my rule of thumb...for what its worth...

If you suspect something, dont see just what you want or have even the slightest doubt...PASS.

Dropped the price to purchase a new barrel  , so here is my winter project. Includes both locks, can go cap or flint. What's a guy to do..Thanks for all the input.. PeashooterJoe..

YES ...do an interchangable rifle....flint or cap....HAD ONE ONCE....sold it to my brother...he traded it off....
