I have a barrel. Looks like a Colt 1911, but appears to be a muzzleloader. Appears to be 45 Cal, as a .440 ball fits loosely. Barrel is marked "CBMLMID-SOUTH CHAMPIONSHIP 1977" ON THE right side and "ED MASON MEMPHIS" on the left. Barrel is 8 inches overall. Muzzzle to bottom of barrel is 6 5/8 inches.

There was a commercial kit of parts to convert a 1911 to a muzzle loader. Saw the ad in a magazine about 30 years ago.

Why have a muzzle loader barrel for a modern shotgun? Or a muzzle loader barrel for a TC modern pistol? Or a plastic stocked bolt action unmentionable muzzle loader?

Why would anybody want a muzzleloader that takes shotgun primers?

Why would anyone want a pistol that was a colt revolver grip and frame converted to a single shot, yet the tingle pistols often bring over $600 when offered for sale.

I am very glad that there is variety in the world but if this is not the dumbest thing ever it's close. Geo. T.

I am not saying it was a product in high demand. They were made. They were accurate. About the same time there was a conversion to turn a crosman pellet pistol into a 32 cal muzzle loader pistol.

There are those of us who collect odd ball muzzle loader pistols. I would certainly be interested in it.

BTW: Ed Mason is a Gunsmith in Cordova TN and is apparently still in business. (901) 753-7166
