Barrel Under Lug Removal

What is the best way to remove the barrel under lug on a T/C Renegade barrel? I tried tapping it out but don't want to mess it up.

Remove the screws located under the thimbles. There should be a small access hole through each thimble. You may need to add some penetrating oil, as the screws have been in place for many years.

Probably like dovetail sights, usually go in from right to left and removed left to right.
Why do you want to remove it ?

me thinks he is referring to the barrel key lug.
Deermanok is correct. use a brass punch from left to right.

I was thinking the lugs were held on with screws so I pulled my TC barrel and sure enough the lug is dovetailed. My drop in GM barrel has screws holding the lug on.

Thanks guys stopped by Northern Tools today and picked up some brass punches. Deermanok, I am putting it into a curly maple stock.
