My fowler has a barrel that was made by a fella in Gettysburg PA. It says "something and Son" I can not make out the something. Does anyone know of a barrel maker there and if so what this barrell is worth. It is 48 inches long smooth bore and swamped. Octogan to round. Double ring right after the Octogan.

Also why where fowlers and fusils made with the Octogan to round barrells??
