Can anyone suggest any basic clothing patterns for fall attire in the southeast? I'm looking for general 18th century longhunter, something that will fit in well with every situation.

I found this shirt: http://arms2armor.com/store/product405.html

There's a Rondy coming up beginning of October that I'd like to go to, but to shoot you have to be dressed "period".

I'd like to do my best and not get roasted...

I'm not opposed to buying pre-made, but I like to get my hands dirty.

Need:

Hat
Shirt
Pants
Shoes

Anything else? I'm open to suggestions.

You can get free patterns here: http://www.nativetech.org/
Look under Seminole Clothing.
The shirt may be a slightly later time period but nobody should mind at a shoot. If you want to make a more period shirt, delete the yoke and lengthen the body to compensate. Cover the shoulder seam with a 2 inch wide strip of fabric as a reenforcement.

I think that mocs, leggings and a breechcloth are much easier to make that one pair of breeches.

Since you are looking for the Longhunter...stay away from the Seminole or Creek material. The sites listed in an earlier post are better for what you want. If you do Creek or Seminole you may have some problems fitting in with other areas. If you are interested in Southeasterm Clothing...this site(s) will be of interest. Some of the same people who wrote the articles for Native teck are on them and with more up to date information...with lots of photos. It is a very colorfull style of clothing.

There is also the handbook of Ft. Toulouse, Alabama that has great informtion on clothing for the Southeastern look. But remember, as we find out more about these areas of time...things do change. http://www.fttoulousejackson.org/Toulouse/Toulouse.htm http://www.fttoulousejackson.org/Toulouse/INDIANGUIDE.htm

You're right tipis, more research is always better and Creek clothing wouldn't be correct if you live in KY.
I meant it as a starting point if the goal is to get clothing together fast in order to attend a shoot that requires period attire.

Plus, those mocs look cool once you get some practice making them.
