The name is Chip from North Carolina. My focus is on 18th century colonial/Rev War history as a re-enactor, musical performer and docent. For several years, I have done the Christmas Candle Tea at a couple of Moravian congregations (I am a Moravian) highlighting Moravian colonial history and culture. More recently, I joined a fife & drum corps unit in the last three years (https://guilfordfifeanddrum.org/) as a fifer. And last year, I took to the field as a "walk on" with the New Jersey Light Infantry for the Battle of Guilford Courthouse as a militia infantrymen. I am not a hunter nor use black powder arms for sport, but I have a "Brown Bess" Dragoon carbine (from Veterans Arms). I like the light weight of it and is easy to manage, more so than a 60 inch musket. I have yet to fire a ball out of it...just powder for re-enactments. I am hoping I can learn more about good footwear and improved authenticity of the clothing I utilize from this forum, as well as information on maintaining my musket over time.
