This isn't until November, but is anyone else on here planning on attending/participating?

Greetings Sir. I had thought of giving it a go. However it depends on the dates and if it is during my drill time or not.

Here is a pdf with a link. I have already sent an email to Leslie and hope to have more info at the Feb. Gunshow.

See you there.

BTW, Trench. Hope to see you at the Gunshow. Would love to talk about your clothes (1812ish) and shooting and other things relavent. :hmm: See you.

I'll probably be there on the Sunday of the show. Look forward to meeting you!

As an FYI, Leslie Martin Conwell (orginazer for the event) will be at the Gun show. She is with Chien Noir trading company. Very nice Lady (and her husband too) and had a nice conversation with her here at the Linton Faire. See you at the Show.

By the way, think of some ideas for expanding this region's (Central Indiana) group participation. Would love to get other groups to travel to shoot and interact with each other at their respective shoots.

Thanks and see you soon.

Cheers, Don

Is she the lady in the red dress and long hair? If so, I think I talked to her at last year's Conner Rifles show. I look forward to talking about this with everyone. Do you think I should show up to the fair in costume?

You're right, the time is ripe for a flurry of activity with the war of 1812 bicentennial along with Indiana's Bicentennial in 2016.

I will be in garb as most of the people that are here.
Yes, I do believe that is the Lady you are referring to. I have much to get ready for for the November event though. Got a bit o' time but not much. Oh well, that is what these shows are for. Got things to buy as does my wife.:hmm:

Cheers, DonK

Sent for registration form Friday. Almost all of the Fort LaMotte Rangers are interested/planning to attend. Should be one heck of an event. Avidly looking forward to it!!!

Yeah, I got a feeling this one is going to be BIG!

I think my biggest problem is how to go about going to an event (such as this one) with the proper garb, hand sewn or not???, utensils, weapons, tents etc. It is quite a bit more expensive. AND on top of that, sleeping on the ground or a poorly made bed for these 'old bones' just looks to hurt more than have fun.

I spent 20 years in a medieval recreation group and it was much more relaxed, (non period tents were ok). I do not have a problem with being period but want to find some shortcuts that will let me play without offending the 'Period Police'.
And that will not make me spend the next week eating enough painkillers to make a commune really happy :surrender: . This just looks like too much fun to pass up.

Cheers, DonK

Sir. I am planning on attending as an Amerikan militia man and I do have room in me tent for a tent mate I always haul an extra cot. How ever it depends on the dates and if it will coinflict with my(Regulated Militia)National Guard drill dates of which I'll not know until Aug. How say you Sir? There is a Lt. in my unit that does 42nd Highlanders(lapdogs of the cursed english) who I think is planning to attend as well.

I wouldn't go too crazy for one event. I'm just going to throw up a canvas lean-to for my home for the weekend. I'll be sleeping on the ground, though. Wooden cots are correct for this period and especially for officer's tents.

Let me know if you want me to send you some period drawings and paintings for clothing ideas.

What I am hoping for (due to a knee that needs replaced :cursing: ) is that they have a camping area for trailers and we set up or have a few people that have a group to hang out with and have the wife cook her awesome goodies (she is looking forward to trying something out).

It is hard to even think about sleeping on the ground/cot with this knee. I will be talking with the folks who are in charge and see what is available close by. But it still looks like a lot of fun.

Cheers, DonK
