Its been a while. I thought you folks might like this. I made a centerseam knife sheath using barktan beavertail and a squirrel rawhide liner. (Also made/tanned by me).

So do you sew/stitch it up like a regular sheath then turn it shift it around so the seam is in the center. Never made one but I like the look of it.

That is correct. You sew it like a regular side sheath then soak in water. Put tape on your blade edge then wrap in plastic wrap. Gently insert your knife centering up the seam. Add a small piece of a wood wedge where the blade meets the handle. This will give you more clearance for pulling in and out.

I settled on 50% rubbing alcohol as a wetting agent later on. Water will work but I had better results getting a more permanent and flatter seam with the 50/50 or 70% alcohol as a wetting agent. After the sheath is thoroughly dry, I would dip it completely in a jug of mineral oil then let it drain and set in for a couple of days. Other, and maybe better oils could be used, but I found mineral oil worked well enough for me.
