Not the ones still in stores. Many years ago they were beeswax. Now they're sticky, weird stuff. Too gummy for lube wax.

The price of them should answer your question.
Beeswax is relatively expensive depending on where you get it.
The wax toilet rings go for about a dollar around here.
I bought one just to see what it was made of and it is some nasty stuff.
Do yourself a favor and find the real stuff.

Look in yer phone book for beekeepers n give them a call, they will usually sell some of the extra wax they have if ya explain what ya need it for, might even be able to pick a bit of fresh honey if ya ask nice, YMHS Birdman

Ebay is a great source for BEESWAX. beekeepers sell it by the ounce or by the pound. From what I have seen it usually sell for about $4.00 a pound, 1 pound beeswax will make ALOT of lube....

Ace has the 2 oz for $1.95 if you want, cleaned and filtered. I bought a sample and made Moose snot for a while. You can buy cosmetic jars at Wally World for 50 Cents also.

If you look at some craft stores you can find some. They carry it for making candles.It comes in a brick thats probably about one pound. I don't know the price offhand cause I never paid close attention. But it's another place to try. Look at A C MOORE or MICHEALS. DALE

The last time I looked at wax in the craft stores it ran about ten bucks per pound plus tax. I just bought ten pounds from a vendor on eBay shipped for four bucks per pound. For me this one is a no brainer.

 

Better buy all you can find!

There is a virus going through the bee population like crazy. It is expected to wipe out 90%-95% of the population of bees in the US.

It has already killed 50% of the west coast population from what I hear.

It is expected to take several years to eliminate the virus and restore the population.

I bought a brick of this stuff about 10 years ago at a farmers market that is typically set up in the summer and fall on the PA Turnpike at one of the fuell and food places west bound between Harrisburg and Pittsburgh. I can't recall the specific location, but the last time I was down that road the market was still there. We stopped and bought some jam and other goods. Never though of beeswax though because I still had part of the original brick on hand.
