That's a short gun for sure!! I also see that its gotten Tom-Toms seal of approval  .

Nice, but it IS blunderbus-short -- how short is it?

I like the gun but love the cats!

so the kitty, is that the chief or quality assurance, or is he just there to remind you that the dog is full of it and you're not a deity after all?

(as an aside, we now have five cats, and a house dog, and every time the dog tells me that I'm the next best thing to wonderful, the cats all remind me that ...

I'm not ...

That is a very handsome and useful l'il gun.

What stain did you use to get it that rich color?

Walnut from TOTW ....lots of coats to dark areas......the "used" areas by handling.....

Ya know kaintuck, if you listen to that cat long enough he's going to teach you the fine art of building a gun!

Yah, I know he can be picky about getting everything installed right but I'm pretty sure he's kinda proud of that little short gun he let you make seeing that you did almost everything like he wanted it.

They are fun to shoot. Had one with an 18 inch barrel gave it to a friend 15 years ago. Been thinking hard about on this last year or so. Yours looks great.

Thanks fellas...I mis-spoke, it's a 28ga, I posted the pictures the owner sent in this builders column....looks better in the woods of knee-bra ska where it now is.....he will shoot it when he can and tell me about what does......

Now, back to my beloved Kain-tuck-eys........

Every now and then a short barrel is found in or near creek and rivers. They are rusted short so we don't know how long they were. Blakett guns were used at Detroit, I doubt if the owners threw them away after the fight. Any one that would poh-poh one never carrired one.

Yeah your right about that, Carried an 18.5 inch barrel 870 and mdl 94 trapper as bear guns at work for an awful long time and I never have said "gee I should weld another 6 inches of barrel onto this dam thing cause then it will be way less hassle"

Yep long heavy barrels are 100X easier to shoot well but the handier the gun is the more likely it will be in your hand and not leaned up against a tree somewhere when you need it.

We all like our guns and think of them as things we are happy to have at hand, once they become burndensome, heavy tools tangled up in the willows the mind turns to hacksaws and rasps LOL.
