I have a Lyman Plains pistol with a belt hook . Man I love that thing the convenience of the belt hook is undenyable.

I just finished putting togeather a Flintlock Traditions Kentucky Pistol Kit and now I am thinkin about adding a Belt Hook to it.

Were Belt hooks used during the Flint era ?
What was the time frame for the Kentucky style pistol ?

Belt hooks were used in the flint era. I believe they were more common for sea service pistols than civilian use.I don't think it would be considered totally out of place to install one on the kentucky pistol. And as you note, they are terribly convenient.

If for some reason the belt hook doesn't work out I would suggest a pistol frog. I got mine from Dixie gunworks I believe and it has come in very handy for my Kentucky pistols.

Belt hooks are great, here's the one I added to my Traditions Pioneer Pistol kit. It's 1/16" spring stock so adds hardly any weight.
