Yikes! Why would you trade off a .62 calibre Jeager?? I've been waiting years to own one...thought it didn't get any better than that! Well I'm hoping/wishing mine will be done sometime in November, or at least by December.

What I've done with hunting rifles in the past, when I wound up with a box of balls that was a little too tight, is to use the bigger ball for that first load in a clean barrel, then have the smaller balls in the loading block for quicker loading/follow up shots.

Same with my 1860 Colt, load the clean gun with .454's, but then reload with .451's.

How tight were the .610's to load...??

I didn't notice any great difference in starting either the .600 or the .610 due to the ultra smooth Colerain rifling. TOTW notified me that they received my Jaeger today so maybe it will be on their website soon. My next TOTW kit will be their transitional rifle, maybe around income tax refund time.

50 caliber with .15 patch .490 rb and 80 grains of fffg(GOEX). all my deer have been shot closer than 50 yards and in the thick woods of northern wisconsin your lucky to see a deer thats over 50 yards. The 2 deer i shot with this combo never went beyond 50-60 yards after being hit. I get better penetration with 80 grains. this is with a traditions kentucky percussion. our season opens next thursday(doe only). I feel like a kid at around christmastime :applause:

For me, big game is moose, buffalo and grizzley - 16 bore is minimum for me, and 14 bore is perfect. The bores larger than these, then start to recoil too much if good trajectory is sought after. A good 14 or 16 bore can handle up to 5 drams easily and all game found in North America. I use 30gr. with RB for head smashing rabbits - great fun in the off-season - tasty sweat and sour stew too.
