Ball diameter, patch thickness and weave, lube, and powder charge all play a combined role..
First answer . . . Best answer (IMHO).

I have tried just about every patch material mentioned so far, save the teflon coated stuff. One of my rifles really likes pillow ticking, several like the "thinner" denim. Most of my patches are from 400 tpi cotton discarded sheets, cut into strips of proper width and cut at the muzzle. (Do you know how many patches you can get from a king sheet???) Every rifle/handgun will want to shoot what it wants. All you can do is try what you can and match it to the firearm.
