A few years ago I read an artical in Backwoodsman about a guy who modified his cap and ball Colt with birdshead grips. It looked very cool and I've looked all the obvious places on the net for birdsheads grips for cap and ball guns but came up empty. Do any of you guys know where I can get them? I'd be grateful.

I got a grip from EMF for their 1873 Pinkerton model ( spare part sales) and with light modifications it worked quite well.
I also would talk to cimmaron firearms !
Last option ( more expensive is to go to a machineshop and have a frame made)
Good luck!

I would go with William's suggestion and try EMF. I looked in the Midway catalog and they have a (pricey) grip frame for the new Vaqueros which they say needs a lot of fitting. Since the new Vaquero is close to the size of the Colt frame, maybe that would be another option. Best to have the 2 items in hand for a close comparison before purchase.

I handled a couple of birds head grip pistols, I thought they looked kinda neat. But unfortunetly they don't fit my hand to well.

If you are interested, I have a Bisley grip frame and grips. I don't know if they will fit the Colt C&B revolvers, but can PROBABLY be modified if they are not a perfect fit. PT me if interested. Emery
