Have a safe trip
Good luck, good shooting!Just crossed the Mississippi into Iowa. Never seen it before. Really cool to see a river that had such a huge part in our past.
It was a heckuva drive, but we made it. It's really beautiful here. Saw a nice bull bison on the way into the reservation. Can't wait for the morning.
The guide is picking us up early. Then headed to take one last shot, and on to the hunt!
Buff steak medium rare, roast stands on it's own don't add beer or anything tators, carrots, salt pepper let it roast. You will be so full of protein you'll go lookin fer a fight!Good luck, good shooting!
What a great day!
It was a moment I'll never forget. So thankful to be here and to be in the presence of such an animal. Thank you Lord.
Well done, good shooting. What a great day!
The herd spotted us from quite a distance. There were about 60. This bull was part of a group of 3 that were off to the side.
They were skittish and suspicious, but we got to about 50 yards. First shot broke the shoulder, he hunched up and tried to run but failed. The second shot hit both lungs. He dropped soon after. The guide had me shoot him again behind the ear, to end any suffering.

I was happy with the speed he went down. There was a lot of damage to the lungs. I did lose some shoulder meat, for sure. The bullets did not pass thru (except the one behind the ear). He is at the packer hanging right now, so I haven't recovered the bullets yet, and cannot tell the extent of meat loss.So... after the work is all done, what are your thoughts on the performance of the load? Much meat damage? Any negatives? Positives?
