The .45 is the rifle I've used for the majority of deer I've killed in my long career. I no longer hunt but can say I never lost a deer with just the one shot from a .45. If a .45 can't do it nothing else exists that can. That's a huge, gorgeous buck that would give anyone "buck fever". Nice rifle and the caliber is correct for what you did.

After the shot, then I watched him take off, and I watch him piled up,
Then I fell all to pcs, I just laid down
