We all know about black powder fouling, its easy to make. The question is..... What is that stuff? Thanks to my Gilbert chemestry kit I found out. It is made of....
61% potassium carbonate
15% potassium sulfate
14.45% potassium sulfide
0.22% potassium thiocyanate
0.27% potassium nitrate
0.74% ammonium carbonate
8.74% sulphur
0.08% carbon
It is not of much use except my flowers grow better where I clean my gun. Most people curse the stuff.

I always called it crud but those ingredients sound like fertilizer. I should start calling it another four letter word.

Mike: Calling it crud just dignifies it, although it does make good fertilizer. Thats about all it is good for.

Well, one thing I do know about black powder fouling is that it tastes salty... :youcrazy:

Ifn ya got fouling, that means ya been shooting. A reward for the fun you had, and if there was no fouling, you wouldn't have the fun of cleaning.

:youcrazy:
