It seems that a lot of members have a difficult time getting BP. Locally, in my city, the Gander Mountain chain carries it. They don't advertise it and you wouldn't know otherwise if you didn't ask. They carry everything from 2f to 4f as far as I know.

The Maine powder house is owned by JR, and he is a great guy.. I am luck to live within a 60 mile radius, so I drive over and pick up what I need  Has a wide selection of powder and if you tell him how you want to shoot...IE compition, plinking,rein-actment, he will recommend a powder that's the best buy..
It's always great to see him and talk Black Powder.
You can't go wrong with his company

Trench - at least your local Gander Mountain is still carrying black powder. I could go on a lengthy rant about our Gander Mountain - very disappointing to say the least.

Thanks to all of you for your response to my que. looks like a good outfit, Powderinc also.thanks Shifty

What is GM askng a pound for the stuff? Usually those big box stores are pretty proud of their Goex and often are double the price you pay at other places.

Old Army, Firelock here, I have trouble buying black powder, I live in Montpelier Vt. Where is the Maine Powder Co. located and what are his hours. I travel to the Kittery Trading Post at least twice a year and the last two times they have been out. Thanks in advance  Firelock

That is exactly what I was going to ask.I think GM
is very proud of everything they handle.IMO When they
have it I get mine from a local gun shop.Goex
at $15.Not bad, but if I order 10# from Grafs
it runs around $14 due to the HAZMAT fee.

Firelock,

Maine Powderhouse is located in Peru Me. Here is the web link, http://www.mainepowderhouse.com/ I have never delt with them but have heard good things here on this board. I think they will ship as little as ten pounds. Hope this helps.

That's great news. They are building a Gander Mountain in Roanoke,VA, and I work in Roanoke. I've bought it at club shoots, but sometimes those are few and far between.
