Never tried them.
A lighter bullet will naturally shoot flatter and travel faster then a heavy one but a lighter bullet will carry less knock down power.
I don't think he has created anything new.
My .54 will kill very nicely within a 100 yrd range with just a round ball. I keep it simple. Just my opinion.

SJoe, i agree with John. if it ain't broke... there are a head spinning number of gizmoes and gadgets which will supposedly make your rifle more accurate, more powerful, more this and that and more attractive to the opposite sex.

but it ain't broke. it's not designed to be broke: it's designed to bang a rock into a hunk of steel and then ...

and of all the thousands or tens of thousands of PRB which i have launched, the magic has never even begun to fade. the latest 30 cal kingkongkiller comes and goes, but plain old prb goes on. it served out founding fathers well, and their children, and i have taught it to my children and will (God willing) teach it to my grandchildren, generation upon generation. in an odd way, it is a constant and a comfort in an ever changing world. so: one guy's opinion (and worth what you just paid for it):

don't worry so much about the latest gadget: a lot of the attraction of this game is not being drawn into the latest fad or falling for the latest gizmo, it is instead the sure and certian knowledge that the ball will fall into the black at that whatever range.

spend your time on the practice of your marksmanship and your woodcraft, and you'll put a good bit more venision in your freezer that some fellow with the very latest thingie.

thus endeth the rant.

Seems pointless to me. I don't see how you could improve upon the good old Maxi-ball.

That is simple...with the good old round ball..

No matter what comes on the market.....somebody wants to make a magnun out of it.
I've been there, bought the tea shirt, all of it.
That is why I reverted back to black powder, just to keep it simple.
If you want to shoot squirrels get a .32, or .36, if you want to shoot really big squirrels, get a .62 cal., that will keep them down, and they won't wander away after being hit.
That's what muzzleloading is all about.
Best Regards

I've never heard of these bullets and don't know if I would order any or not, but it's still nice to see a new outfit investing in the development of a new bullet that works in all kinds of muzzle loaders without requiring a sabot. Sure they look similiar to a TC bullet, but because they have a different weight distribution, it gives folks another bullet option to try out, especially in .58 caliber.
Thanks for sharing.

They were accurate in my Kodiak .58. My friend shot a six-point buck with his .54 using the Black Widow bullet and it performed exactly as they describe - all the energy expended in the animal. No exit wound, tremendous damage.
