They opened up a new Bass Pro Shop in Little Rock Ark. last week. I was in that area today and stopped by. I asked the salesman if they had blackpowder and he sure do but its in the back. I had to wait about 5 minutes for him to go get it but it was worth it. Anyway, if you are in the Little Rock area and need some blackpowder its available.

The Bass Pro near me has it also, But I find it a lot cheaper $30+ dollars a LB. at the store vs. $17.00 to $19.00 dollars per LB for a 10lb order. shipped and that INCLUDES hazmat fees. Even if you only get a 5lb.order its still only around $23.00 a LB. I only buy my 4ffff prime from the store because it will last forever.

Armakiller, you are right about the price, after taxes that lb of 3f bp cost a little over $27.00. Maybe I need to find some friends to go in on an order next time.

Wait a minute, what am I reading...

Are you saying Bass Pro sells FFFg for about $27/lb.? I haven't bought any BP for a couple of years, and frankly don't remember how much it was at the time but it didn't surprise or bother me, but anything like that woulda thrown me into a fit.

What'm I missing!?

Yeah todays prices have given me cause for pause a time or two. The 10 pound or more order sure makes since. It is nice to have some local in an emergency.

I just picked up a lb of FFg at The Gun Works yesterday and it was $20 and some change.

Don't tell anyone.

If they don't have the Federal license to sell it they are breaking the law.

This has been covered before but a club or any group of friends can appoint someone to be their "agent".

The "agent" collects the orders and payment from all of the people who want black powder keeping a written record of who wants what and of their payment.

He/she then orders and pays for the powder, its shipping and the Hazardous Material fee specifying that it is to be delivered to his/her address.

When the powder arrives, he/she must contact the others and tell them to come and get their powder which he/she then gives them.

This is totally legal as long as the order doesn't exceed the Federal allowance for an individual purchase.

The catch is, after the powder is delivered, if the agent or anyone else actually sells their powder to someone else, that is a sale and the licensing requirements apply.

One unit I belonged to bought quantity and gave every man-at-arms 1-lb. of powder per year -- it was part of your dues/privelages as a participating reenactor. Didn't get you through many events but it was helpful...

Do you really think that ATF is going to charge an individual for selling a pound of powder to a friend? I would think that being able to possess 25-50 lbs. of bp would be a bigger concern of theirs.I asked an ATF agent that comes into our courthouse about this. He laughed and said when they had enough agents to enforce this and nothing else to do, he would let me know.

Agents do what they are told to do. The Fed cops might want to set an example and pick on one individual for that purpose.
Chilling thought, isn't it? :shocked2: Oh, wait, that is the idea. :cursing:

I belong to the https://rangersoftheohiocompany.shutterfly.com/. We're a reenactment group of about 60 members based in Washington, PA. A couple other members and myself, order 25# or 50# of various granulations of Goex BP. We order when we can put one together for the group members, prepaid
(So we aren't reselling it), to total 25 or 50 pounds. When it arrives, the word goes out and they pick it up or get it at an upcoming event. Anyone can order from http://www.powderinc.com/ (Check it out/ info is free) :v . You need to print out, fill out and send in their form for you to be permitted to purchase powder from them. The larger the order, the cheaper the cost. A 5# lot is $23.50; 10# to 24# is $18.30 per; & 25# to 50# is $14.80 per pound. This is shipped and Hazmat fee included. Why pay almost $9 more per pound. Find enough guys to order once or twice a year to save money. :slap: Individuals can order up to 50#. Our Artillery Sgt orders about 50#, for himself, several times a year; but he also has an Pyrotechnicians License.

I too order several pounds at a time(from Backcountry).I was commenting on the fear that ATF is watching blackpowder shooters selling a pound or two of it to someone else to shoot. Believe me they have more pressing matters to tend to.

My answer before 2009? Sooner than I would have believed they'd have smuggled AR-15's and AK-type guns, mags, and ammo to Mexican drug cartels in a subversive program to undermine the 2nd Amendment. But there is no denying it -- they did!

They confiscated a shipment of some store's Airsoft rifles and some affirmative acting moron dressed-up in his Sunday clothes and explained to the press they could be easily converted to real machine guns. Also post 2009.

Do I "really think"? You're damn right I do...
