I've used Goex, Schutzen, Graf, and Kik (lots of Kik). They all work fine. Goex is made in USA.

I've also tried Swiss, works great, and competition rifle shooters find it to be the most consistent. Swiss is also pricey.

I've been buying through Powder Inc.

I am fortunate to be able to buy Goex about 30 minutes from my home.

I do however, pour it out from those blasted new fangled plastic cans into my trusty ol' red metal Goex cans...just an old fashioned old man who refuses to change

Thanks for the reply! How about favorite vendors?

I like Graf & Sons. They don't have a minimum purchase requirement, and Goex, which is all I've ever used, is $16 and change per pound, it doesn't matter if you buy one lb or fifty lbs.

I shoot Goex in everything from cap&ball revolvers to cannons.

Used to have 3 lbs. of ELEPHANT, but the burned with the house. I don't know if you can even buy that anymore.

I switched to Swiss last year and the target rifle I use now throws them all over the map. Come greenup I'm going to do some serious 'back to square one' shooting and testing with Swiss and Goex. I'll use a steady bench rest (not NMLRA legal) and take notes. Just like I tell beginners to do but haven't done myself for many years. For now, I suspect Swiss has a dramatically sharper pressure curve than more conventional powders and that may be the culprit. As for cost, if it works, less is needed than with Goex, and that, pretty much, offsets the expense part.

I always buy Goex 3F. It appears you have a number of Bass Pro stores in Michigan so you can usually buy real BP from them. You have to ask the right people because most employees don't know they sell it. But the ones around here do.

I mainly buy KIK powder, it is cleaner in my guns than goex. I use goex 4f f9rd priming. I used to buy goex in paper bags out of a guys house in Winchester va. It was $5 a pound if I recall correctly. I also used elephant (pretty awful), diamondback and a couple others I don't recall.
